With all the controversy with professional athletes and steroids, it can be hard for the average Joe to decide whether or not anabolic steroids are safe or even legal. In most cases it is not legal or safe to use steroids. Using steroids can be dangerous and may even cause death if one does not take steroids with the consultation of a licensed physician.
Steroids can cause the bad cholesterol on your body to rise to alarming levels. This can cause a heart attack or other health problems that can put your life at risk. While anabolic steroids can be used to increase mass as it acts as a protein supplement, it is not worth risking your life to add a few inches to your arms or chest.
Consult your physician; if he feels that your health is good enough and that you would benefit from using to steroids, he may prescribe them for you. Although this is highly unlikely as steroids are illegal for use in body building in most states and countries.
Other side effects from using steroids is a raise in the blood pressure, this in conjunction with the increased cholesterol can really do harm to your body’s internal workings. Yes, you may be getting bulked up and putting on a lot of muscle mass, but at what cost to the health of your inner body?
You will also do damage to your liver in most instances. You liver helps to keep toxins out of your body, many body builders will not drink alcohol as it puts on weight and adds strain to the liver, but they would use steroids even though they have the same effect on the body as alcohol does.
The bottom line is that steroids are dangerous and should not be taken with out the consent of a physician. Do not take anabolic steroids if you have existing heart problems or if heart disease runs in your family. Many also experience a loss of sex drive and a shriveling of the testicles when they use steroids. This by itself can be a great deterrent to illegal steroid use.
Some may not care and use them any way, no matter what damage the steroids will cause to the body. Too many bodybuilders feel that the end result justifies the means and this is simply not true.
